    Default WORDSHAKER: 2nd Album Thread

    Might aswell.

So we have One Shot and Wordshaker.

From what i ahve heard though, they may be trying a little too hard on this album: Rihanna and Beyonce's producers, R'n'B sound etc. They are besting sticking at what they are good at, being a girl group that float around on a stage.

    Anyway ... discuss.

They worked with Rihanna's producers on their first album as well so I wouldn't really say they're "trying a little too hard".

Fair do's, but developing a specific R'n'B sound maybe a bit too ambitious imo.

Well all artists have to grow and change if they're going to have longevity so it might just be that they're trying to mix it up a bit, which is fine as long as they don't lose the pop sound completely. I don't think they'll go too far away from the first album's sound as they've always prided themselves on being pure pop. At the end of the day the most important thing is that they deliver strong, catchy songs, and if they do that then people will buy the album whatever.

I really like Wordshaker, but I'm still not sure on One Shot.

One thing that is a little annoying about The Saturday's songs so far is that they all have the same structure as each other, verse, pre-chorus, chorus then a bridge/middle-8 before the final chorus. This is one reason (of many) why I love GA because of the varied song structures they have (SNNN, Biology, TS, MYBW for example).

I hope they change things up a bit to give a good variety of songs.

Thanks to Anouk for the Signature and Avatar.

Thought I'd make this sticky as it's creeping up fast.

One of the latest news stories is that the girls rejected (stupidly) 'Ready For The Weekend' and 'Holiday'... Yes those HUGE Calvin Harris songs...

Even though it wouldn't have had Dizzee rapping on Holiday I still think that's a bizarre move as the instrumental is really good.

No its true- they did reject them; Calvin offered all three of them to The Sats, it was in his digital spy interview.

The album is apparently called Colonial Masses (wtf?) and will be released on the 12th October. I'm praying they change the title by the time it goes into production!

Thank goodness for that! I don't know where 'Colonial Masses' came from, I doubt the girls even know what it means! Although to be honest I'm not entirely sure what 'Wordshaker' means either...

I'm not sure if this and the single wil do well. As they haven't really promoted them. They might be getting to big for their boots if they think they dont need to promote a single or album and expect it to do well.

Is Rochelle doing her best to look really bad this era? I really really don't want to sound mean, but she looks awful on the latest 2 covers that have been released.

Again, too much air-brushing. But aside from that I quite like it. At least they did something a bit creative, rather than just a bog-standard photo of the group (the last two Sugababes album covers spring to mind, and the upcoming JLS one is awful).
