Toxic - Britney Spears
Call The Shots - Girls Aloud
Kelly Clarkson - Since You've Been Gone
Kelly Clarksons - Breakaway ....... BEST ALBUM OF THE DECADE!
No supprises here that Kelly Clarkson is my artist of the decade and here's why;
I didn't actually see the 1st series of American Idol when it was on, I do however remember a clip from GMTV in which a few of the finalists were crying hysterically about another finalist being eliminated. I first heard Miss Independent in the summer of 2003, it was my friends birthday party and we were in her mom's softop BMW and I was like "what is this song, who is this woman, her voice is amazing!" It was actually Carys (NCN old skool) who got me to download Thankful, and I fell in love with it! Then came the anticipation of her second album, I'd pre-ordered it on amazon and the day it came I didn't stop listening to it, the first song that really hooked me was "Behind These Hazel Eyes". Never before had I come across music like this. It had the perfect balance between poppy and credible, listenability! Her voice had always been her selling point but now her song writing and emotive conversion was emerging more and to this day I still think that Breakaway is the perfect pop/rock album of all time. My december delves deeper into the mind of the Clarkson and is the ultimate fan album. AIEW pleases the masses while still retaining that personability. All in all, she's the first talent show winner to gain international sucsess, she's widely regarded as one of the nicest people to work with in the business, she's sold over 32million records, won countless awards and continued to be a great role model. She opened the door for many artists today, inspired many and took away the reality TV show stigma. I relly think she's gonna be one of those artists who's still around making big records when she's 50. Amen to that!
Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera were both heavy influences on the early part of the decade. Britney personifes the tragedy of the modern popstar and the whole performance over vocals mega stardom. Christina has some of the best vocals in the business today and Stripped is one of my favorite albums of the Decade. They both know how to put on a show and have some very memorable performances that people will remember the 2000's by.
N'Sync - Bye Bye Bye is one of my favorite songs of the decade, my ultimate guilty pleasure and i think it was kind of the start of R&B/Urban production adding credibility to pure pop music.
Girls Aloud brought pop music back to the UK in this decade, they made it credible again and made it ok to like Girlbands.
So all in all, regardless of weather I like them in pop, the major artists for me in the 2000's were; Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson & Girls Aloud.
I'll have think about the other genres...
Well obviously Girls AloudI still remember coming home from school and hearing SOTU on the radio. It's weird how I loved that song but never heard of them again until early 2006 when I saw an english music channel which had them on and I loved them again
.
The 2000s were also when I discovered Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert which I both love for their amazing vocals and great songs lyrically, for which I respect Miranda loads as she has written almost every song on her albums.
Obviously I love Kelly Clarkson as well, I still remember the summer my best friend and I were dancing to Breakaway almost every day (oo happy times)
For the rest I'm more into oldies music (Smokie, Eagles, Sweet) so I can't really tell much about them![]()
A thousand miles between us, God knows I had to go
But distance can be overcome in the beating of a heart
Just put your arms around yourself
Believe I'm not that far

Best group of the decade has to go to Girls Aloud. Best pop group of the decade is again Girls Aloud. When I first heard them, they were brilliant and still are. I never actually was into pop music until I listen to them. Best rock group of the decade has to be either Nickelback or The Offspring. So many choices, so hard to choose.
In the second half of the decade, Taylor Swift & Carrie Underwood really got country music some attention and younger fans.
I think the most important album of the decade was;
Dixie Chicks - Taking The Long Way - Such an important album, after all of the **** that went down, they came back with this! It didn't sell much in the US compared to their previous albums but it's not supprising as a lot of the album was "bashing" the stupidity of the American Public. It included songs about The war in Iraq, Death Threats, IVF treatment, Hurricane Katrina and more toucing subjects. One of the most powerful albums of the decade especially when you consider it won 5 grammy awards, was #1 in the US, Canada, Australia & Sweden, charted at #10 in the UK, #5 in Germany & New Zealand, #6 in Norway & Siwtzerland, #7 in Ireland & Austria, #12 in Finland, #13 in Denmark and #41 in Holland. When have you ever seen an album chart so widely...let alone a country album! It also won the Juno award for international album of the year. Spawning lyrics like;
"It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better
Shut up and sing or my life will be over"

Aw I love that album! Dixie Chicks rock!
Girls Aloud - One of my favourite things about how people see Girls Aloud is the fact that everyone was blind of the fact that in fact Girls Aloud are able to be good, release half decent songs, and sing in the right tune (most of the time - Sarah Harding, GMTV, The Loving Kind). People thought that to be accepted as anything of a music fan, you had to despise Girls Aloud with all your might. Then people relaised that this wasn't the case, and people stopped saying how **** they were and begun to see that just maybe they have realesed five of the best albums of the centurary, twenty-one of the most iconic, memorable and recognisable singles of a generation, that ones such as the 1st one, the 6th, the 13th, the 17th and 19th, will last forever and ever. I hope that in the way that Elvis and The Beatles music has lasted over like three generations, Girls Aloud will do the same, becuase no, they may not write their own songs but who fives a flying f??
Beyonce - Crazy In Love, Baby Boy, Deja Vu, Irreplaceable, Beautiful Liar, If I Were A Boy, Single Ladies, Halo, Sweet Dreams. She's released three albums and each one of those is iconic.
Britney - The Queen Of The Emotional Rollercoaster. The ledgend that is...
Kylie - In the Nineties she was the Indie-Wannabe that was started to fade, and look at her now!!
Madonna - Further pushed he everlasting boundaries.
Kelly, Leona, SuBo. Three perfect reality examples.
And the decade that will always be remembered for the birth of GaGa.
